Sebastian Kienle shone at the farewell
The 38-year-old Iron World Champion from 2014 Sebastian Kienle started this year for the last time in his career on Big Islands Hawaii. He started out at the 46th place after the swim, then fought his way up to 5th place, to then cross the finish line in a strong sixth place at the end of the run. Only 15:15 minutes separate him from his hep teammate Iden and the podium. Kienle undercut the eight-hour mark again and finished the race as the best German.

Laura Philipp showed mental strength
Laura Philipp achieved a very good fourth place in the women’s race on October 6th, 2022, which was held separately from the men’s race for the first time. She was in great form both in swimming as well as cycling und ran with the best in the field. Unfortunately, a 5-minute time penalty, due to a possible slipstream offense, threw her far back in the field and ultimately cost her the place on the podium. Nevertheless, she convinced with her mental strength and fought her way to fourth place, which she had already reached in 2019.
